The Atlas HO Scale Master Gold GE Dash 8-40CW is modeled after 4,000-horsepower diesels introduced in the late 1980’s for road service on several railroads. In the 2000’s, many changed hands as their original equipment leases were up and today can be found working for secondary owners. The CW designation indicates it has a crew comfort cab & precedes the Dash 8-40Cs had standard cabs.
The Atlas model features details unique to the road name and working ditch lights if appropriate. Other features include a five-pole skewed-armature motor with dual flywheels, directional LED lighting, all-metal magnetic knuckle couplers, accurate decoration and road name-appropriate body details. Lots of applied details and realistic decoration round out the detailed model. The Dash 8-40CW replica comes equipped with a dual-mode ESU LokSound Select sound and DCC decoder with Full Throttle effects for operation on DCC and DC layouts.
