The Atlas Master Silver EMD GP38 is based on the 2,000-horsepower road switchers introduced in 1966. The line of locomotives was powered by the 16-cylinder 645-series prime mover and was non-turbocharged. The GP38 was a versatile locomotive that could be found across the US hauling drag freights and working all kinds of locals and heavy switching - jobs many still perform today. A key spotting feature on the GP38 is its two rear fans.
The Atlas EMD GP38 comes equipped with an eight-pin DCC socket for easy decoder installation when you're ready. Other EMD GP38 features include a five-pole skewed-armature motor with dual flywheels, directional LED lighting, AccuMate magnetic knuckle couplers, accurate decoration, road name appropriate body phase details and plenty of applied details.
