The InterMountain HO Scale GP16 is based on locomotives rebuilt from older GP7 and GP9 locomotives in a re-manufacturing program initiated by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in the late 1970s. Over 150 were produced and they have since been sold off to various short line and industrial users. This model features a smooth-running mechanism with dual flywheels, road name specific details and more, plus fine decoration and magnetic knuckle couplers. The GP16 is equipped with a factory-installed ESU LokPilot 5 Non-Sound DCC control decoder.
